Application Portfolio Services
Today's dynamic business environment has put enormous pressure to do more with a shrinking pool of resources. More than 80% of a company's IT budget is utilized to maintain and enhance existing applications. However, only few existing applications generate significant value, while the rest provide value, but only marginally.
Therefore the challenges are:
Balancing the immediate need for tightening budgets, while aligning business goals and IT investments. Leveraging existing software applications optimally to deliver the required business functions.
Portfolio Evaluation & Management of Applications
According to Gartner, "Portfolio management is a necessary first step toward architectural modernization. Identifying and understanding, which systems will yield the greatest business contributions, as well as thoroughly comprehending their current implementation, create a sound footing for modernization."
ITPC Application Portfolio Services (IAPS)
IAPS is a set of services for collaborative management of applications based on portfolio evaluation and knowledge management principles. The services includes: An evaluation approach using IOSEM © (ITPC Outsourcing Strategy Evaluation Methodology) to determine an application's suitability for outsourcing Grouping of applications into logical bundles or application portfolios by function and/or technology A structured manual and automated knowledge acquisition process to capture technical and functional knowledge of the various applications ending with a comprehensive knowledge repository A seamless transition, which includes a live parallel pilot of the outsourced model. This is followed by a gradual transition of support and maintenance for the identified applications to ITPC with optimization tracks for eventual modernization and
re-engineering.
What is IOSEM© ?
ITPC Outsourcing Strategy Evaluation Methodology (IOSEM) is a tried and tested methodology that allows us to quickly study the client's applications and analyze the viability of outsourcing each individual system. It helps: Evaluate all applications without bias Group applications into portfolios Establish business viability Identify potential risks, and thus enable a go forward transition roadmap
A IOSEM study comprises a structured evaluation process wherein the applications are evaluated against various criteria including business impacts, technology, regulatory etc. By the end of the study, the client will have a clear outsourcing strategy or roadmap. The strategy will detail what applications could potentially be outsourced and the value and/or risks associated with the transition.
Why IAPS?

The cost of supporting and maintaining systems in an organization is continually rising. IAPS provides a focused solution that helps to increase ROI on these application portfolios year over year. This is accomplished by: A focus on Service Level Agreements rather than number of resources, ensuring the most efficient configuration of support and maintenance teams The implementation of a knowledge repository increases support and maintenance efficiency as well as protect the client's intellectual property A realignment of the support and maintenance teams within the identified portfolio groups ensures the most efficient use of technical and functional skills within the group. This is regardless of the specific application or system. Focusing on improving operational processes within application portfolio groups. New efficiencies are not solely driven out of wage arbitrage. Implementing a new operational model leveraging our global delivery model to achieve cost efficiencies.
